Important Events and Interests

Male, born in Scotland sometime in the 20th Century, name ; "Alex"  pronounced "Ah-lick" or even "Ah=leck" not "Ahl-X's", married etc.
Grew tired of the English oppression of his homeland and emigrated. In the late '80's he was terrified by a computer and required intensive therapy, after which he resolved to master the beasts.

Capabilities and Experience.

Computer Experience: 
Learned to program on an IBM  main frame computer using APL. and ADRS.  Graduated onto PC's and was bitten by a well known bug becoming a PC addict.  Now as well as the usual run of the mill programs he writes in Delphi, HTML, Java Script, Dynamic HTML and uses Microsoft's Front Page.  
Is a member of the Microsoft Site Builders Network.
Art & Photographic Experience

Having attended the Glasgow school of Art he found it easier and quicker to use the medium of photography to express his art.  Having been used to manipulating reality he naturally chose Prints especially colour prints.  Eventually gaining an APSSA in colour Prints from the Photographic Society of South Africa.

In the early '90's he lectured on the future of digital photography and despite the disbelief of his audience has been proven correct, especially in light of the prediction that soon digital cameras will be included in the sale of new computers.

Technical Capability:

Built his first computer when 286's were replacing 088/086 machines.  By converting an 086 CGA Machine to a 286 EGA.  As a mater of fact that machine is, or at least the case, PSU, keyboard, printer, etc. are, still in daily use as a 386 SVGA machine. Not by the author or any of his staff but proving that old machines need never die.

Equipment: 

His personal computer is a 266Mh Pentium II MMX machine with AGP bus, 80 Mb 10ns SDram.   Two Hard drives one 3.22 GB & one 5.4 GB,  one 36 speed CD-ROM, one CRW drive, one 1.44Mb drive and one 1.2Mb drive, Sound Blaster Live Sound Card and Dolby Surround Speakers, 56k voice, data, fax, modem.  Attached to the computer is a full page A4 Scanner and a Photo Quality 8 PPM Ink Jet 1200x1200 DPI Printer.  All of which are connected to an internal LAN. with access to a state of the art Laser Printer

Having a background in Art, Photography and Computer programming along with his Technical ability and a willingness to pass on his knowledge to others. Likes And Dislikes: Other than his Computer, Photographic and Dog  breeding  interests he enjoys watching Formula 1 Motor Sport and Soccer. Rugby and five day Cricket leave him cold.
